On 7/23/26, CPD was made aware of individuals receiving a phone call today from a person identifying themselves to be an officer with the Chambersburg Police Department. The suspect spoofed the CPD phone number to make it appear as if the call came from CPD. The suspect is asking for the individuals to obtain money to pay for their bond and threatening to arrest them if they don't comply. They also instruct the individuals to not speak to anyone about the phone call. Please be aware of this scam and do not provide any payment or transfer of funds over the phone. If you receive such a call, hang up immediately and contact your local Law Enforcement Agency to report the incident.
