The SARPD wants to remind residents to leave the fireworks to the professionals this 4th of July.

While we understand the excitement and tradition associated with fireworks displays, it's crucial to remember that setting off fireworks can pose serious risks to public safety.

 Local ordinance and/or laws prohibits the discharge of consumer fireworks on streets, sidewalks, and property owned by the Boroughs/Township, including all parks, public owned property and public buildings. Using aerial fireworks within 150 feet of an occupied structure is also illegal, meaning consumer aerial fireworks use is unlawful in most locations in our jurisdiction.

The following fireworks restrictions apply by LAW:

• They cannot be ignited or discharged on public or private property without express permission of the property owner.
• They cannot be discharged from or within a motor vehicle or building.
• They cannot be discharged toward a motor vehicle or building.
• They cannot be discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure, whether or not a person is actually present.
• They cannot be discharged while the person is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance, or another drug.

Fireworks can cause severe injuries, damage property, cause fires and create unnecessary hazards for our neighborhoods. “Novelties” such as ground bloom flowers, paper tank & vehicles, snakes, snaps and sparklers are permitted.

Safety is our top priority. We encourage everyone to find alternative ways to celebrate this 4th of July. Leave the fireworks to the professionals! By doing so, we can work together to make this 4th of July a memorable and safe celebration for everyone!
