On November 5, 2025, a resident from the 400 block of Heyer Mill Road reported a fraudulent incident involving a contractor. The victim entered into a contract with Scott Miller on September 27, 2025, to construct a pole building on their property for $26,000. A deposit of $13,000 was paid to Miller. However, over the next two months, Miller ceased communication, failed to begin construction, and did not provide a refund. An investigation was conducted, and Miller was charged by criminal complaint with multiple offenses, including Home Improvement Fraud, Deceitful Business Practices, Theft by Deception, and Receiving Stolen Property. 

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
