The Cortez Police Department arrested Robert Salt Jr. and Nykhona Holiday (pictured below) in connection with the tragic assaults that occurred in Veterans Park on Wednesday night, August 20th.
The two suspects appeared in Montezuma County Combined Courts on Thursday, August 21st, with Salt being held on a cash-only three-million-dollar bond and Holiday on a one-million-dollar cash or surety bond.
On August 20th at about 8 p.m., officers responded to reports of a violent assault involving three victims. Sadly, a 40-year-old man passed away due to the extreme injuries sustained. The other victims named in court on Thursday, 56-year-old Anthony Hill and 61-year-old Bilbert Tsosie, remain in critical condition due to the severity of their injuries.
Holiday and Salt are set for a return filing of charges on Friday, September 5th, at 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the Montezuma County Combined Courts in Judge Furse's courtroom 4. They both remain in jail at the time of posting.
