Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Akron Borough
Akron Borough, PA – On January 28th at 10:007 PM, Officer Alexander Reed of the West Earl Township Police Department stopped a maroon 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix with a malfunctioning driver-side headlight traveling southbound on South 7th street in Akron Borough.
The driver of the vehicle identified himself as David Hartman, 19 yoa, from Lancaster, PA. During the stop, Detective Mertz observed, in plain view, partially smoked marijuana cigarettes in the vehicle's center cup holder. An on-scene investigation by Officer Reed and Detective Mertz led to the seizure of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Hartman was placed under arrest and was transported to West Earl Township Police Department for processing. David Hartman will face charges including possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and a headlamp violation. Upon the completion of processing Mr. Hartman was released.
The West Earl Township Police Department would like to remind the public and media that all charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
