The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) is investigating a shooting in the 2500 block of Wecco St, within the Bennett Yard community.

On July 28th shortly after midnight, officers responded to reports of gunfire on Wecco St.

Arriving officers located shell casings and blood in front of a residence within the 2500 block of Wecco St. Shortly thereafter, officers located an abandoned SUV in front of a residence in the 2600 block of Bennett Yard Rd that was covered with blood and had a shattered window. The homeowner told officers they did not know where the SUV came from and had heard noises just before officers made contact. While investigating, a nearby hospital notified officers that an adult male gunshot victim just arrived in the emergency room. The investigation placed this victim with the scene that officers located.

The case remains under active investigation, and as of now, no individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
