Effective September 21, 2023 York County has enacted a temporary burn ban for 15 days unless they terminate it earlier. What this means is that there may be no open burning on the open ground or in a burn barrel or backyard fire pit. The county has also included all consumer and professional grade fireworks in this ban. Individual municipalities may still issue permits and allow a professional to conduct their pre-planned show. Unless the Township issues a permit, no fireworks may be set off until this burn ban expires. Gas and charcoal grills are not included this order.
Fines for violations of this burn ban range from $100 for a first offense up to $300 for a third and subsequent offense.
