The Pike County Probation Office is proud to announce that Senior Probation Officer Keith VanLouvender successfully completed the 40-hour Carbon-Monroe Pike Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training on September 25, 2026. This class was combined with participants from Wayne County, marking Wayne County's inaugural 40-hour CIT.
A majority of our Probation Officers have now received this critical training. The CIT program is designed to equip law enforcement and first responders with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively respond to individuals in crisis, ensuring a safer and more compassionate approach to community policing. This is especially important in an area with very limited access to mental healthcare.
Other Pike County agencies represented in the training included the Pike County Sheriff's Office, the Pike County District Attorney's Office, and the Pike County Communications Center. This collaborative effort demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest level of service to our community.
We congratulate Senior Probation Officer VanLouvender on his accomplishment and recognize the dedication of all participants who have completed this rigorous training program.
