LANSDALE BOROUGH — National Police Week is a time of reflection, remembrance, and unity within the law enforcement community. Observed each year in May, the week includes Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15, a day set aside to honor federal, state, and local officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice or have been disabled in the line of duty.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and designated the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress, this observance pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting the safety and security of others.
National Police Week is a collaborative effort among many organizations dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement community. Together, these organizations work to ensure that the service and sacrifice of fallen officers are never forgotten, while also supporting the families, friends, and colleagues who continue to carry their legacy forward.
The Lansdale Borough Police Department remembers those who gave their lives protecting others—our fallen brothers and sisters whose commitment to duty will never be forgotten. We also recognize the families, friends, and fellow officers who continue to carry the weight of that loss. Their strength and resilience are an enduring testament to the character of those we honor.
As members of this profession, we take an oath to serve and protect, often facing unknown risks each day. The sacrifices made by those who have fallen remind us of the true cost of that commitment and reinforce our responsibility to serve our community with integrity and dedication.
As we observe National Police Week, we encourage the Lansdale community to join us in honoring the legacy of these officers. Their service, bravery, and dedication will never be forgotten.
