On July 7, 2022, at 9:49 PM, Lansdale Police responded to the unit block of West Hancock Street, in Lansdale Borough, for a report of a shooting. Arriving officers found three adult males suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS responded and transported the victims to area hospitals for treatment. While the exact extent of their injuries has not been confirmed at this time, all three victims appeared to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The victims advised that they had been shot while in the unit block of West Mt. Vernon Street and then ran to the area of 34 West Hancock Street. Officers responded to the Unit Block of West Mt. Vernon Street and located approximately (10) shell casings in the roadway. Detectives from Lansdale Police Department and surrounding departments responded and began to process the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victims were walking westbound on West Mt. Vernon Street (south side of the street) when a vehicle approached, and the occupants of that vehicle began shooting. The vehicle then fled the area at a high rate of speed.
The victims have been identified as:
This shooting is being investigated in connection with the June 6, 2022, shooting on West Fifth Street in Lansdale. In the June 6th incident Nasir Miller was also a victim and shell casings from both shootings are consistent.
A very concerning aspect of these two incidents is the absolute lack of cooperation by the victims with this investigation. During the investigation last night, the victims were purposefully trying to hide their cell phones from police.
The reality is the perpetrators of these shootings are most likely known to the victims and others. We are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact police with your tips. This can be done anonymously at crimetips@lansdalepd.org
While we do not believe there is a specific threat to the community, people who engage in brazen behaviors such as these create a dangerous situation for the everyone.
We would like to thank Montgomery Township Police, Towamencin Township Police, Upper Gwynedd Township Police, Lower Salford Township Police and, Hatfield Township Police for their prompt assistance. We would also like to thank VMSC, Fairmount Fire Department and the Lansdale Fire Marshall for their assistance as well.
