LANSDALE BOROUGH- On February 4, 2026, Nazear Newton, 26, of Lansdale, was charged with multiple felony offenses in connection with a motor vehicle crash that occurred on January 30, 2026, at approximately 9:07 a.m., at the intersection of South Cannon Avenue and Delaware Avenue.
The investigation revealed that Newton, an unlicensed driver, was operating a vehicle eastbound on Delaware Avenue when he failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection with South Cannon Avenue. Newton’s vehicle struck a Subaru Outback traveling northbound on South Cannon Avenue, causing injuries to the adult driver and a juvenile passenger.
Both victims were transported by VMSC Emergency Medical Services to Lansdale Hospital. The juvenile was later flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital for surgical intervention.
Following the crash, Newton fled the scene on foot but was located by officers a short time later.
At the conclusion of the investigation, and in consultation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Newton was charged with Aggravated Assault by Vehicle (F3), Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury (F3), Accidents Involving Death or Injury While Not Licensed (F3), and Accident Involving Damage to an Attended Vehicle (M3), along with additional summary traffic violations.
Newton was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, pending formal arraignment and the scheduling of a preliminary hearing before District Justice Edward Levine.
