• Additional roadways are in the final stages of being reopened. We have dropped below yesterday’s number of thirty-two (32) roadways closed. We will provide a current count and list in this evening’s update.
• Several intersections throughout Manheim Township continue to have traffic signals that are not functioning and are dark, including:
• Per the PA Vehicle Code, a signalized intersection that is out SHOULD BE TREATED AS A FOUR-WAY STOP SIGN AND ALL MOTORISTS SHOULD STOP BEFORE PROCEEDING.
• MT Public Works continues to assist with street openings, assessing damage and starting clean-up operations at several Township facilities such as Overlook and Skyline pool.
• MT Fire Rescue on-duty personnel are now assisting residents in neighborhoods as available time permits between answering 911-calls for service, trying to assist residents with clean-up operations.
• Several areas of the Township have active utility work underway as of this update. PPL and other utility vendors continue to work throughout the Township attempting to restore services. PPL has provided an update that they have over 2,000 additional personnel working in the Lancaster, Harrisburg, and Pocono region from utility companies across the mid-Atlantic region and Canada in order to help expediate service restoration.
• Per a PPL update from this morning at 11:00am, they continue to report that they expect to have 95% of all outages repaired by Tuesday night at 11:00pm; and 100% by 11:00pm on Wednesday night.
• SAFETY REMINDER - PLEASE CONTINUE TO EXERCISE CAUTION AROUND DOWNED TREES AND UTILITY WIRES. YOU CAN NOT DETERMINE IF A WIRE IS ENERGIZED SIMPLY BY LOOKING AT IT – ASSUME ALL WIRES ARE ENERGIZED!
• SAFETY REMINDER – If you encounter a barricaded roadway, DO NOT travel past the barricades. They are there for a reason. Also, do not try to pass downed trees or wires by driving onto a resident or businesses property. Please be respectful to our neighbors.
• The Manheim Township municipal office, located at 1840 Municipal Drive, continues to be without power and remains CLOSED for Tuesday July 7th. Critical staff will be working from other locations or remotely.
• Overlook Golf Course will remain closed for Tuesday July 7th as damage assessment and clean up continues.
• Overlook Pool will remain closed for all activities on Tuesday July 7th; Skyline Pool will open ONLY FOR PROGRAM ACTIVITES AND SWIM MEET.
• The Manheim Township Public Library is OPEN. The MTPL is also providing space for residents who are without power to charge their devices, with Wi-Fi available, and air-conditioned space to relax and recharge.
• The Manheim Township Compost Park on Oregon Pike will be operating on regular hours (7:00am to 7:00pm) and will continue to operate at no cost to Manheim Township residents who are cleaning up storm debris through next Sunday July 12th. REMINDER that the Compost Park is for residential use – not open to commercial contractors.
• The Township has also been made aware that Calvary Church, located on Landis Valley Road, is providing air-conditioned space, along with restrooms, device charging, and Wi-Fi in the lobby area of the church between 8:30am and 4:30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 7th and 8th, to any person needing these services.
