ONLY THE DOG PARK ALLOWS DOGS TO RUN AT LARGE!

The Manheim Township Police Department has recently fielded numerous complaints of people allowing their dogs to run at large in several of the public parks throughout the Township.  This post is to remind citizens that dogs are required to be leashed in all public parks throughout Manheim Township.  The Overlook Community Campus does have a dog park, where dogs are permitted to run at large, but this is the only public facility within the Township that does so.  Persons found allowing their dog to run at large in a public park can face a fine up to $600.00.  For more information about the Overlook Community Campus Dog Park, please click this link.

§ 167-7
Animals at large; leash requirements.
     A. It shall be unlawful for the owner or person having custody of any animal or the parent or guardian of any minor owning or having custody of any animal to allow the animal to go beyond the boundaries of their premises or to run at large over the streets or public grounds or upon the property of anyone other than the owner or person having custody of such animal. It shall also be unlawful for the owner or person having custody of such animal to permit such animal to pose a danger to pedestrians using adjacent sidewalks and streets.
     B. It shall be the duty of the owner, custodian or keeper of any dog traveling on the streets or public grounds to have the animal on a leash at all times.
