Weather forecasters have been and are continuing to report below-freezing temperatures and moderate winds for the Manheim Township / Lancaster Township area for the next few days.
The Manheim Township Police Department thought this would be a good time to remind dog owners and caretakers about the additional weather-related provisions of Act 10 of 2017. One of the portions of this Act, known as Libre's Law, allows for dogs to be tethered outside for up to nine hours at a time. However, this is no longer allowed when temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The above photos provide examples of what is unacceptable and illegal.
Please be sure to follow these regulations to ensure your dog is safe and properly cared for. It will also avoid you being arrested!
Remember - Act 10 of 2017 is applicable to other domestic animals, service animals, zoo animals, etc. so be sure to follow the regulations carefully!
