At last night’s Manheim Township Commissioner’s meeting, the police department held a historical promotions ceremony. For the first time in its history, the police department now has the rank of Corporal. This is a Civil Service sworn position that is being awarded to eight police officers. Applicants had to pass a written test, followed by an oral interview held by the PA Chief’s Association. The top eight officers were promoted to the new rank.
A Sergeant leads each of the four patrol shifts and will now be assisted by two Corporals.
Lt. Melhorn introduced each Corporal before they were sworn in and had their badge pinned.
