Five more Manheim Township Police officers recently graduated from Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training.
CIT provides officers with tools to recognize and respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises, with an emphasis on communication, de-escalation, and connecting people to appropriate resources.
This is an ongoing effort within our department. Several officers have already completed CIT, and more are scheduled to attend as we continue working toward having all officers trained. The department has launched an initiative to train every police officer in CIT. This brings us one step closer.
