LITITZ BOROUGH - In the past 12 hours, the LBPD patrol function responded to two separate welfare check requests for assistance. In each incident, a reporting person requested the LBPD respond to check on subjects who have been unable to be contacted by other conventional means. The dispatch information presented to responding LBPD patrol officers was suggestive that the persons inside likely could have experienced a situation which requires emergency intervention. On both occasions, which occurred at private residences, LBPD patrol officers were able to gain access to the interior of the residences and discovered each occupant alone, in need of immediate emergency medical care, and unable to summon help or assistance on their own. During both responses LBPD patrol officers provided on-scene care and summoned pre-hospital based emergency medical services care that resulted in transportation for hospital-based care. Both people are 87 years old. No other information, including their current medical status, is available.
