LITITZ BOROUGH - High-quality, timely and detailed data is critical for decision-making, identification of local trends, effective deployment of resources and to support data-driving policing initiatives. When police agencies are confronting budgetary and staffing challenges, it is important for law enforcement leaders to continually leverage data to improve and expand decision-making and maximize available resources. These data, when made publicly available, aid in building trust and legitimacy in the agency through transparency and accountability.
Public communication and engagement are an agency priority. Utilization of technology gives the LBPD an important opportunity to fully engage and educate the Lititz Community. Also, it allows us to receive community feedback about their expectations of transparency and accountability, and to co-produce public safety.
Technology changes quickly. Law enforcement leaders must identify, assess and evaluate new technology and evolution while satisfying competing interests. The LBPD utilizes the CRIMEWATCH™ platform for this purpose. LititzPD.org positions the LBPD to communicate high-quality and timely information to the community through several mediums, as well as receive timely community input.
In 2022, the LBPD continued the use of CRIMEWATCH to effectively and efficiently communicate and receive community information. Here is a summary of the annual activity.
