LITITZ BOROUGH - Yesterday(7/2/22) was the last official day of service for Officer Christopher Kelley. Officer Kelley joined the LBPD in June of 1997 and throughout his tenure he served in many roles including the departments D.A.R.E Officer, Field Training Officer, and a member of the Lancaster County Major Crimes Unit as an Evidence Technician where he was responsible for processing the scenes of some the most high profile crime scenes in Lancaster County.
Affectionately dubbed the nicknames of “Friekin’” and “Nightstalker” by his co-workers for his uncanny ability on night shifts to interrupt criminal activity in progress. In his most recent role the past several years as a Field Training Officer he was able to pass along his knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of LBPD Officers.
At a recent retirement luncheon members of the Department and Mayor Snyder were on hand as he was presented with several gifts and a Certificate of Retirement. Following the luncheon we captured the ceremonious last “walk” down the hallway out of the station.
He’s looking forward in retirement to spending time with his wife, family, and grand dogs. As an avid outdoorsman he’s also looking forward to spending some quality time at his property in Kentucky, hunting and relaxing by the fire with his Jim Beam.
His veteran presence will surely be missed by the LBPD and the Lititz Community, but his uncanny ability to impart his knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of LBPD Officers assured his spirit and style will live on. Perhaps the only thing many of us here won’t miss about him is his poor choice of NFL team, Cowboys(had to get one last dig in on him), just kidding!
We hope you thoroughly enjoyed not having to suit up and work the 4th of July festivities the past two days for the first time in Twenty-Five years! We wish you all the best for a long and happy retirement. Thank you to you and your family for all of the years of dedication, sacrifice, and community service.
