On April 23, 2026, the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association voted unanimously to re-Accredit the Lititz Borough Police Department for another three years. The LBPD was again designated as "Premier Status," the top-tier level of law enforcement accreditation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The LBPD was the first Borough police department in the Commonwealth to achieve Premier Status, a designation held by about 4% of police departments in the Commonwealth.
In January of 2026, an outside and independent team of assessors reviewed all agency policies, nearly 1,000 proofs of compliance of professional best-practices, inspected the LBPD facility, and interviewed officers and staff members as part of the re-assessment process.
The LBPD was initially Accredited on February 2, 2008, and has been successfully re-Accredited every three years since.
"Accreditation provides assurances to our community members, officers, and elected officials that our police department is providing high-quality, ethical, and procedurally just police service to the Lititz Community. At its core, this aims to build and sustain public trust and legitimacy," says Chief Jared Hahn. "Our team has embraced Accreditation (which there is no legal mandate to maintain), and I appreciate all of their time, effort, and talent in service to Lititz Borough."
