LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD is participating in targeted aggressive-driving enforcement which started on July 5th. The goal of the enforcement is to reduce the number of aggressive-driving related crashes, injuries and deaths on roadways throughout the Commonwealth. Drivers who are observed displaying aggressive driving behaviors will receive a citation.
The enforcement will focus on speeding, tailgating, red light violations, stop sign violations, pedestrian safety and heavy truck violations. Drivers who display other unsafe driving behaviors such as following too closely or driving too fast for conditions will also receive citations.
The LBPD traffic safety framework includes the 3 E's of traffic safety - Education, Engineering and Enforcement. Although drivers displaying aggressive driving will receive a citation, the LBPD continues to strongly encourage a climate of compliance with traffic-safety laws through driver education and awareness. The LBPD is providing this information for public awareness about the agency efforts, but also to provide notice to drivers and encourage safe driving behaviors.
In 2020, there were 61,248 people injured and 1,129 people killed on crashes in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
