LITITZ BOROUGH – Over the past two weeks, LBPD officers were provided a unique opportunity to train in a dynamic and responsive virtual reality training environment surrounding use-of-force decision-making. This training incorporated various real-life use-of-force decision-making scenarios, requiring officers to make decisions in real-time and also incorporate verbal de-escalation techniques. In addition to the required tactical skills, officers were also compelled to consider Constitutional, legal, agency policy, and preservation of life prioritization safeguards in their decision-making.
The LBPD utilizes present-day technologies and new modalities that enhance the effectiveness of the learning experience, reduce instructional costs and ensure the broad dissemination of training across the agency. The administration of ongoing training ensures the delivery of high-quality police service to the Lititz Community.
The Training was facilitated by the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center (NCTC). NCTC is staffed by National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from the Pennsylvania National Guard who provide infrastructure management in order to enable this training opportunity.
