LBPD Officers Commended for Quick Action at a House Fire -
Three LBPD officers were commended for their quick actions at a house fire on January 24, 2026, around 2:17 AM in the 600 Block of South Cedar Street. The officers arrived just under two minutes after dispatch and found the rear of the home on fire. The officers deployed fire extinguishers to control the fire until the arrival of Lititz Fire Company No. 1 shortly after.
"The quick and decisive actions of the officers prevented additional damage to the home, kept the fire from spreading to attached townhomes, and preserved human life inside the homes," Chief Jared Hahn cited in the commendations. "A fire in a home at 2:00 AM presents increased risks to the residents inside as they are likely asleep and their awareness of the fire and ability to safely escape the home are hindered."
The actions of the Sgt. Tyler Weinoldt, Ofc. Jevon Miller, and Ofc. Sam Habbershon represent the LBPD mission and core values of Duty, Integrity, and Respect.
