LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD has received 7 reports of hit-and-run crashes that occurred in Lititz Borough since January 4th. The LBPD is providing the following list of things that witnesses to a hit-and-run can do to assist with the police investigation:
- Take a picture of the hit-and-run vehicle and/or license plate, if you can do so safely.
- Record as much information about the hit-and-run vehicle as you can remember (i.e., make, model, color, license plate, and other distinctive details).
- Record as much information about the appearance of the driver as you can remember.
- Take note of where the vehicle went after the crash (direction, street name, etc.).
- Immediately report your observations to police, without unnecessary delay by calling 911. Provide 911 with your observations and your contact information.
- Do not chase or follow the hit-and-run vehicle. Obtain as much information as possible and call 911.
These simple pieces of information can make a difference in identifying and locating the hit-and-run vehicle.
If you are the victim of a hit-and-run, please immediately report this to the police. Often times these events go unreported to police by the person who was hit. A prompt report will greatly assist in the investigation. In some instances, the hit-and-run vehicle is located before the victim of the hit-and-run makes the report.
NOTE: On 01/20/2021 at 5:30 PM, this post was updated to correct the number of hit-and-run crashes to 7, instead of 6 as originally reported.
