Lititz, PA—Lititz Borough Police Department Officers and Staff will be hosting a Coffee with a Cop Event at Whiff Roasters Café on Wednesday October 4^th in honor of National Coffee with a Cop Day.  LBPD Officers and Staff hope to join community members and visitors in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and of course, drink coffee.

All are welcome to drop into Whiff Roasters Café inside the Market at Wilbur, 54 North Broad Street Lititz, PA 17543, anytime between 8am and 11am on Wednesday October 4^th, 2023 for Free drip coffee sponsored by LBPD Community donations. 

National Coffee with a Cop Day is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between police and the public.

The day began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October furthering efforts to bridge the gap between the community and police.

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department, initiatives, and the officers and staff that serve their community. 

The majority of contacts law enforcement have with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street or sitting in a patrol car.  Coffee with a Cop serves to break down those barriers and allows for relaxed, one-on-one conversation.

“We hope that community members will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know their officers,” said Sgt. Stephen Detz. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”

The program at its core is community policing one cup of coffee at a time.

The Lititz Borough Police Department has sponsored events for several years now and we are excited to host another event with our friends at Whiff.   We believe this event would be a great way to interact with our community and further guiding values of Duty, Integrity and Respect.
