LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD is once again illuminated blue for National Police Week, thanks to our friends at Stray Production Services.
The blue lights are meant to remember and honor the over 22,000 officers that have died in the line of duty throughout U.S. history.
In 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that day falls as Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. This year, National Police Week is recognized from Sunday, May 12, 2024 through Saturday, May 18, 2024.
The imagery attached to this post is provided by Donald Reese Photography and depicts the illumination of the LBPD from a previous year.
