LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD continues to receive reports related to false Unemployment Compensation (UC) claims. In many instances, victims of UC fraud are reporting that someone applied for UC benefits using the victims personally identifiable information without their knowledge or consent.
The Department of Labor and Industry does not use social media messaging apps to contact UC claimants. Do not submit your personal identifiable information to anyone using social media platforms. You will never be asked for your social security number or ID information over social media.
If you are a victim of UC fraud, you should do the following:
1. File a form online by clicking here, click "Report Fraud Here" when you get to this website.
2. Call the PA Fraud Hotline if you cannot submit online by dialing 1-800-692-7469.
3. File a police report with the local municipality you reside in at the time the UC fraud occurred. A copy of the local police report must be provided to the Office of Unemployment Compensation.
4. Start a recovery plan with the Federal Trade Commission by clicking here.
