FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On 03/12/2020, the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association (PCPA), Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) unanimously approved the LBPD for re-Accreditation. This approval came after a month-long assessment process of the LBPD following the most-recent Accreditation cycle of 2017 through 2019. The LBPD was assessed on its compliance with 122 applicable standards and was found to be in full compliance with each of the applicable standards.
The LBPD was initially Accredited in 2008 and has successfully been re-Accredited in 2010, 2013, 2016 and again in 2019.
Since the implementation of the Accreditation program in 2001, over 300 agencies have applied for Accreditation. Currently, there are 118 agencies in the Commonwealth who have acquired Accredited status. The LBPD is one of only four municipal police agencies in Lancaster County who have achieved this distinct status.
Chief Kerry D. Nye and Sgt. Jared A. Hahn (PLEAC Accreditation Manager) were presented with a certificate of re-Accreditation by Chief James W. Adams, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Commission and Chief Richard E. Hammon (ret.), Accreditation Program Coordinator.
"The LBPD takes serious our commitment and obligation to all of those who visit, work and live in Lititz. This includes transparency and accountability that we have implemented policies, procedures and practices which are independently vetted and consistent with professional best-practices," says Sgt. Jared A. Hahn, LBPD Accreditation Manager.
