LBPD 2021 Annual Appreciation and Recognitions Ceremony
LITITZ BOROUGH – The LBPD held its annual Appreciation and Recognition Ceremony on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Member achievement and recognitions acknowledge when agency members perform well and reinforce the values of the agency. These acknowledgements also communicate the agency is invested in their success and contributions.
Police Officer of the Year:
The Police Officer of the Year Award recognizes outstanding performance in law enforcement and is presented to an agency member who has exceeded the duty requirements of their position by demonstrating a distinct pattern of community service and/or professional achievement.
2021 POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR – DETECTIVE JEVON M. MILLER
Detective Jevon Miller has been a member of the LBPD since 2003. Detective Miller was selected by his peer officers as the police officer of the year in recognition of his continued contributions towards agency social media and community engagement. To engage the community, social media must be both responsive and current. The 2015 President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing identifies that law enforcement should build trust and legitimacy by creating opportunities for positive nonenforcement interactions with the agency and publicize the beneficial outcomes and images of positive, trust-building partnerships and initiatives. The agency use of social media, initiated by Detective Miller, has continued to play a vital role in community engagement and relationship building. In 2020, agency social media had a combined reach of approximately 4.4 million people. For Detective Miller’s continued efforts in positive community outcomes and relationships through the use of agency social media, Detective Miller is recognized as the 2021 LBPD Police Officer of the Year.
Length of Service:
The LBPD uses length of service awards to recognize members who have served an appreciated amount of time. This is a way to acknowledge service as a symbol of continuity and organizational memory. By virtue of long service, these members contribute towards the agency’s positive culture and environment, so it is important to recognize them and their continued contributions.
2021 LENGTH OF SERVICE –
OFFICER CAMERON A. BURKE – 5 YEARS (SERVING SINCE 2016)
OFFICER TYLER S. WEINOLDT – 5 YEARS (SERVING SINCE 2016)
OFFICER ANDREW D. HEISE – 5 YEARS (SERVING SINCE 2016)
The LBPD appreciates the efforts given by all agency members and the positive community outcomes that result. Congratulations to the officers who received recognition at tonight’s ceremony.
