LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD patrol function will have an increased awareness towards issues that affect traffic safety, specifically, drug and alcohol-impaired driving. Impaired driving enforcement will be a focused priority of the LBPD during the holiday weekend.
According to PennDOT data, in 2019 there were 2,995 crashes resulting in 46 fatalities state-wide over the holiday weekend beginning Friday, August 30 at 6:00 PM and running through Sunday, September 8. Of the total fatalities, 19 were alcohol-related and three were drug-related.
The LBPD encourages motorists to always plan ahead by either designated a sober driver or arranging alternate transportation. Impaired driving crashes are preventable.
