CLICK IT OR TICKET ENFORCEMENT
The Lititz Borough Police Department will be participating in a national "Click It or Ticket" enforcement from May 11 to June 13, 2026. Our department participates in this enforcement for the safety of everyone. The officers will be targeting seat belt violations during enforcement operations. Statistics show year after year that seat belts DO SAVE LIVES! These special enforcement details are grant funded.
Key statistics and findings:
- Increased risk of injury: Unbuckled occupants are 50% more likely to be severely injured in a crash compared to those who are buckled up.
- Backseat passenger risk: Backseat passengers are also at high risk. A study indicated that unbuckled rear-seat passengers are 3 times more likely to die in a crash.
- Risk to belted drivers: Even if a driver is buckled up, an unbuckled passenger in the back seat can become a projectile, increasing the risk to the driver by more than double in a frontal crash.
Don't risk it, just click it!
Seat belt use should be an automatic habit for drivers and passengers. It is the law! Buckling up is the simplest thing a driver can do to limit injury or save a life during a crash.
