DUI ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS CONTINUE IN LANCASTER TOWNSHIP

Last week, the Lancaster Township Police Department announced the arrests of four individuals for Driving Under the Influence in a single night. Since that time, LTPD's enforcement efforts have not slowed down. Officers continue to work tirelessly to keep Lancaster Township's roadways safe and to identify drivers whose impaired decision-making puts everyone at risk.

In just the past several days, Lancaster Township Police officers have made four additional DUI arrests through a variety of proactive enforcement efforts and investigations.

On September 5, 2026, at approximately 1:52 a.m., an LTPD officer observed a suspicious vehicle being operated through the parking lots of several closed businesses. Upon making contact with the operator, identified as Richard Garcia, officers observed signs of impairment consistent with the use of controlled substance(s). Following an investigation, Garcia was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance (DUI-D).

On September 6, 2026, at approximately 1:35 a.m., LTPD officers responded to the 1500 block of Millersville Pike for a reported motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers learned that Joseph Philbert had rear-ended another vehicle. During the investigation, Philbert displayed signs of alcohol impairment. Philbert was taken into custody without incident for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI-A).

Later that same day, on September 6, 2026, at approximately 8:23 p.m., Lancaster Township Police officers observed a vehicle entering Maple Grove Community Park on Columbia Avenue after the park had closed to the public. The operator was identified as Clinton Freed. During the encounter, officers observed indicators of drug impairment. Following further investigation, Freed was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance (DUI-D).

On September 7, 2026, at approximately 1:54 a.m., LTPD officers initiated a traffic stop on a black SUV after observing several Vehicle Code violations. During the investigation, the driver, Friday Butcher, displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI-A).

Whether investigating suspicious activity, responding to motor vehicle crashes, or conducting traffic stops for Vehicle Code violations, Lancaster Township Police officers are always on the lookout for impaired drivers.

These arrests serve as an important reminder that impairment is not limited to alcohol. Alcohol, marijuana, prescription medications, and other controlled substances can all impair a driver's ability to safely operate a vehicle.

The Lancaster Township Police Department remains committed to proactive traffic enforcement and aggressively investigating impaired drivers. Our message remains simple:

Drive Sober. Drive Drug-Free.
