💙 Happy Father's Day from the Lancaster Township Police Department 💙
This Father’s Day, the Lancaster Township Police Department wants to take a moment to recognize the powerful and lasting role fathers and father-figures play in the lives of children and in the strength of our community.
Research has consistently shown that children who grow up without a father face greater challenges—not only within their own families, but across entire communities.
Children without fathers are:
- 5 times more likely to live in poverty
- 9 times more likely to drop out of school
- 20 times more likely to end up in prison
They are also more likely to struggle with behavioral issues, run away, or become teenage parents—challenges that affect not only individual lives, but the safety and well-being of neighborhoods everywhere.
As a police department, we see firsthand how strong families, guidance, and positive role models can make a difference. The presence of a caring, involved father—or any dedicated adult mentor—can help steer young people toward opportunity, stability, and success.
Today, we thank and honor the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, coaches, mentors, and guardians who show up every day and make a positive impact in the lives of our youth.
