As Super Bowl weekend approaches, the Lancaster Township Police Department, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is reminding residents that safe celebrations begin with responsible decisions. There’s no need to consult the playbook—the winning strategy always includes designating a sober driver.
Whether you are hosting a Super Bowl gathering or attending one, everyone has a role to play in keeping our roadways safe. Alcohol‑impaired driving remains a leading cause of serious injury and fatal crashes, and these incidents are entirely preventable.
The Lancaster Township Police Department urges the community to remember:
See someone about to get behind the wheel after drinking? Intercept those keys! 🔑
A game plan is the key to success. Make your plan before kickoff by designating a sober driver. 🏈
Some game plans are worth sharing. Let others know if you’re the designated driver. 🔊
Drive sober for the win! 🏆
Make the play of the day: Designate a sober driver before the celebration begins. 🏈
Be the MVP of the night by staying committed as the sober designated driver. 🏈
Throughout Super Bowl weekend, additional Lancaster Township Police Officers will be actively enforcing Pennsylvania’s impaired‑driving laws. These targeted enforcement efforts place extra officers on the roadway during peak traffic times to enhance traffic safety and identify impaired drivers. Thanks to grant funding received by the Lancaster Township Police Department, these enforcement operations are conducted at no additional cost to Township residents.
The Lancaster Township Police Department encourages everyone to celebrate responsibly and to look out for friends, family members, and fellow fans. A safe ride home is always the best win of the day.
