East Lansdowne, Delaware County, PA — The East Lansdowne Police Department is proud to announce a strategic partnership with DELCO Solutions and Verkada Inc. to deploy forty-one (41) AI-driven public safety cameras throughout the Borough of East Lansdowne.

This initiative, funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED), represents a significant investment in modern, technology-driven public safety infrastructure designed to enhance crime prevention, improve emergency response, and strengthen investigative capabilities—while respecting the privacy of our residents.

Enhancing Public Safety Through Smart Technology

The newly installed public safety cameras will be positioned exclusively along public roadways and sidewalks. No cameras are capable of viewing into private residences, and the system is designed to focus solely on public spaces where community safety is paramount.

Using advanced artificial intelligence and real-time monitoring capabilities, the camera network will assist officers by:

• Providing real-time video access during active incidents, allowing responding officers to better assess situations before arrival

• Enhancing situational awareness during emergencies such as assaults, vehicle thefts, burglaries, or large public disturbances

• Supporting officer safety by helping identify suspect movements, vehicles, or potential threats in real time

• Improving response times by giving dispatchers and officers immediate visual context

Supporting Investigations and Justice for Victims

Beyond real-time response, recorded video footage plays a critical role in post-incident investigations and the criminal justice process. Public safety cameras can:

• Capture clear, objective evidence of criminal activity

• Assist in identifying suspects, vehicles, and timelines
