The East Lansdowne Police Department is proud to assign Officer Alexia Williams as the department’s School Resource Officer (SRO), serving East Lansdowne Elementary School and Vision Academy Charter School.

Officer Williams provides a consistent, visible, and approachable law-enforcement presence within both school communities. Her role extends well beyond traditional police services. She works closely with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and school staff to promote safety, build positive relationships, and help maintain welcoming learning environments where every child can succeed.

As School Resource Officer, Officer Williams provides a variety of important services, including:

• Maintaining a visible and reassuring presence in and around both schools
• Building positive, trust-based relationships with students
• Serving as a direct liaison between the schools and the Police Department
• Assisting school administrators with safety concerns and emergency planning
• Responding quickly to incidents occurring on or near school property
• Supporting age-appropriate safety, crime-prevention, and community-education programs
• Helping identify and address potential problems before they escalate
• Assisting with traffic congestion, unsafe driving, parking concerns, and arrival and dismissal procedures
• Participating in school activities, special events, and after-hours programs
• Connecting students and families with appropriate community services and resources when needed

A central part of Officer Williams’s mission is to ensure that students become familiar with law-enforcement officers in a positive and supportive setting. Through daily interaction, informal conversations, classroom visits, and participation in school activities, she helps students understand that police officers are trusted community partners who are available to help.

Officer Williams also works alongside school administrators to evaluate safety procedures, improve communication, support emergency preparedness, and address concerns affecting students, staff, parents, and nearby residents. Her presence strengthens the Police Department’s ability to respond immediately to school-related matters while encouraging early intervention and collaborative problem-solving.

In addition to her school-based responsibilities, Officer Williams remains a fully empowered East Lansdowne police officer and may assist with patrol duties, parking enforcement, traffic safety, community outreach, and other quality-of-life concerns throughout the Borough. This flexible assignment allows her to connect the needs of our schools with the broader public-safety needs of the East Lansdowne community.

The School Resource Officer position reflects the East Lansdowne Police Department’s continued commitment to community-oriented policing, youth engagement, school safety, and strong partnerships with our local educational institutions.
