Beginning April 13, 2026, the Borough of East Lansdowne has implemented a new bicycle safety ordinance to better protect our youth and reduce preventable injuries.
🔹 What You Need to Know:
ALL riders 16 years of age and under must wear a helmet while riding or as a passenger on a bicycle
Applies to streets, sidewalks, parks, and all public areas within the Borough
Helmets must be properly fitted and securely fastened
🔹 60-Day Grace Period:
From April 13 – June 12, 2026
Enforcement will be educational only
Officers will issue warnings and provide safety information
No fines during this period
🔹 After the Grace Period:
Violations may result in a fine up to $25
Enforcement will remain fair, educational, and community-focused
⚠️ Important: This ordinance applies to traditional bicycles only and does not include electric bikes or motorized devices, which are regulated separately.
