Meet Our New School Resource Officer, Officer Dennis Shearer

With the recent retirement of Officer Kessler, Officer Dennis Shearer has taken on the role of School Resource Officer (SRO) and experienced his first "First Day of School" in this new position. As a veteran officer with the Derry Township Police Department, Officer Shearer brings over 23 years of service to this role.

Prior to becoming a sworn officer, Officer Shearer worked as a Community Service Officer for DTPD. Throughout his career, he has acquired a range of specialized skills, including being a certified Crisis Intervention Team member. He has also served as a Platoon Evidence Technician, Physical Fitness Coordinator, Motorcycle Officer, and Special Enforcement Team member.

Expect to see Officer Shearer frequently in and around the schools and at school events. He is enthusiastic about his new role and looks forward to serving the school district and its students!
