POLICE RESPOND TO A REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT ARMED WITH A HANDGUN IN WESTTOWN TOWNSHIP.

On Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:13 PM the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to the unit block of South Garden Circle, Westtown Township for a report of an adult male armed with a handgun and threatening suicide.

Police arrived on location and received information that the subject fled from a residence on foot.

Due to the nature of the call, the West Chester Regional Emergency Response Team (SWAT) was activated.

A search of the residence and the residential areas around South Garden Circle were checked with negative results for the subject. A firearm was located and seized by police.

On Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 5:23 AM members of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police located the individual in a residence in the 1000 block Smithbridge Road in Glen Mills, Delaware County.

The individual is currently at the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department.

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department was assisted by the following agencies: West Goshen Township Police, West Chester Boro Police, Birmingham Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Malvern Boro Police, West Whiteland Township Police, East Whiteland Township Police, Tredyffrin Township Police, Willistown Township Police, West Chester University Police, Chester County Sheriff’s Office-K-9 Unit, Chester County District Attorney’s Office, Chester County Department of Emergency Services, Cecil County (MD) Sheriff’s Office and Good Fellowship Ambulance.
