Paul Miller was just 21 years old when he was tragically killed in a 2010 crash caused by a distracted commercial driver. Now, his story is helping save lives.
📵 Distracted driving was the #1 cause of crashes in PA in 2023. In response, Act 18 of 2024, also known as Paul Miller’s Law, was signed on June 5, 2024.
Here’s what drivers need to know:
Starting June 5, 2025:
✅ It will be ILLEGAL to use a handheld mobile device while driving, with exceptions for:
❌ Holding, dialing with more than one button, or reaching unsafely while driving is prohibited unless you are pulled safely out of traffic.
⚠️ Warnings only from June 5, 2025 – June 5, 2026
💵 Starting June 6, 2026, the fine is $50
📘 New drivers will also receive education & testing on distracted driving from PennDOT.
