The Kennett Square Memorial Day Parade is a tradition that goes back decades—starting in 1948—and has endured as a local favorite. The parade is first and foremost a way to remember and honor those who have given their lives in the service of the United States Armed Forces. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the people, culture, and freedoms they fought for.
The parade will be announced in both Spanish + English! If you’d like to hear about the parade participants, secure a spot near one of these locations:
100 Block of E. State St (English)
Union Street and Magnolia St (English)
500 Block of S Union St (Spanish)
The parade starts at 10am at the intersection of South + Union. Here are some additional ways to pay tribute throughout the day:
– 8:30am: Tribute Ceremony @ VFW Post 5467
– 9:15am: Tribute Ceremony @ WWI Monument, Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center
– 11am: Lunch for Veterans + their families @ the American Legion, 208 E State St
– 11:30am or parade conclusion: Memorial Ceremony @ Union Hill Cemetery, 424 N Union St
– 1pm: Lunch for Veterans + their families @ the VFW, 704 W Baltimore Pike
Ample free parking is available at Unionville High School with a shuttle running a continuous loop to Kennett Library until 12:15pm. Free parking is also available at the Borough’s municipal
garage on East Linden St.
Krapf School Bus is providing a free shuttle between Oxford + Kennett. The shuttle will depart Oxford Library Company at 8 am making stops at Avon Grove Library, Avondale Apartments, St. Rocco Church, and Mighty Writers El Futuro Kennett and a dropoff/pickup point near the parade at Center St and Las Rosas Dr. Return shuttles depart at 11:30am + 12pm.
