On 11/15/2019 at 0821 hours, USPD officers responded to the Southampton Office Park located at 928 Jaymor Road on the report of an armed subject who was wearing a bullet proof vest.  The subject had reportedly exited a vehicle and walked across the parking lot the entered one of the buildings.

In less than two minutes five USPD officers and command staff arrived on-scene and quickly established a perimeter around the building when they observed a male matching the description exiting one of the units.  The subject was engaged by officers who had their weapons drawn and the subject was compliant with their commands during the encounter.  It was determined that the subject was an off-duty armed security guard who was picking up a relative from an appointment in the complex.  The subject was legally armed with a handgun which was properly retained in a holster.  The subject was not wearing a bullet proof vest but had on a shirt which resembled one from a distance.

We would like to thank the tenants of the complex and the community for their assistance in allowing our officers to quickly arrive on location and resolve this critical situation without incident.
