I have never in my thirty-two years of law enforcement been so humbled by the expression of community support than I received this morning. I was introduced to local resident, Jane DelBianco, of Wrightstown Township who showed up at our police station and wished to present a symbol of appreciation to our local officers and support staff. I found out through our conversation that this resident has been a local resident for over forty years and felt the need to express her appreciation for all that law enforcement does and do on a daily basis and to express her personal gratitude. Not only did she express her own gratitude, but as she relayed this with many of her friends, neighbors, businesses, and their families, many felt the same way and through her self-initiated ambition, she managed to raise donated funds to purchase local gift cards from our local businesses titled “Local Food for Local Police” and insert personal notes thanking each member of this department, and showing support for our law enforcement profession.
Community Policing is much more than a catch phrase here in Newtown/Wrightstown Townships, it is how we live, how we relate to each other, how we partner with each other to better our community. It is not about what makes us different, but about much we’re alike. We need each other, through a true partnership, communication, respect, fairness and dignity to make our world safer and our community even better.
On behalf of the men and women of the Newtown Township Police Department, I wanted to express my sincere appreciation to the following supporters of this initiative, we can’t do it without you!
John L. Hearn - Chief of Police
