March 25, 2022
- At approximately 11:00 pm police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a dispute. As a result of the investigation, one subject was arrested and charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and public drunkenness. The subject was arraigned by Judge Kronagel and remanded to Bucks County Corrections on $100,000 bail (10%).
March 26, 2022
- At approximately 3:30 pm a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a fraud involving an altered check. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
- At approximately 11:15 pm police responded to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a theft. The complainant explained that someone stole a package from his front porch. The total value of the loss was approximately $65.
March 27, 2022
- Around 2:00 am police conducted a traffic stop on the operator of a black Honda Accord for committing a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Woodbourne Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana. The operator was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
- While officers were conducting a traffic stop on the Newtown Bypass at approximately 2:30 am, the operator of a black Hummer drove past and nearly struck the patrol vehicles on scene. Police immediately conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the operator. The officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, and the operator was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests. The operator was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence and refused to submit blood for chemical testing. Charges are pending.
PSA: It's incumbent upon all motoring public to slow down, move over, and/or stop and yield to all emergency vehicles including police cars, ambulances, fire apparatus, and tow truck operators. Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law requires drivers approaching an emergency response area who are unable to safely merge into a lane farther away from the response area to "pass the emergency response area at a speed of no more than 20 miles per hour less than the posted speed limit and reasonable for safely passing." An emergency response area is where an emergency vehicle has its lights flashing, or where road crews or emergency responders have lighted flares, posted signs, or tried to warn travelers.
- At approximately 3:00 pm police were dispatched to Acme Market for a retail theft. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
March 28, 2022
- At 10:45 am a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a fraud involving fraudulent charges on his debit card. The bank was able to cancel the card and reimburse the funds.
March 31, 2022
- Around 3:00 am police conducted a traffic stop on the operator of a white Buick for committing a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Buck Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
- At approximately 10:45 pm police conducted a traffic stop on the operator of a black Mitsubishi for committing a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Buck Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending evidence results. In addition, a passenger in the vehicle was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Bucks County Sheriff’s Department. The subject was processed and transferred without incident.
