On Friday, June 16, 2023, Saugerties Town Supervisor Fred Costello, and Police Chief Joseph Sinagra, spent the afternoon at the Cahill Elementary School with the second-grade classes. Supervisor Costello spoke about being Town Supervisor and what a privilege it is for him to serve the residents in Saugerties. Supervisor Costello also provided the students with a history lesson on Saugerties and its past history of the Saugerties and New York Steamboat Company.
Police Chief Joseph Sinagra spoke to the students about safety and the dangers of Strangers and drugs. The students were very interested in all of the equipment that police officers wear on their uniform. One student even had the opportunity to use the police radio, making a call to police headquarters, that was answered by Dispatcher William Truax.
The Student’s and teachers were all provided with a parting gift from Town Supervisor Costello and Chief Sinagra. It was an awesome afternoon as we had the opportunity to spend time with the most valuable resources of our town and village.
