While attending the FBI National Academy in 2023, Captain Timothy Karch submitted a piece explaining images on the Brighton Police Department patch to the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, Patch Call.
The Brighton, New York, Police Department patch features Fort Schuyler, a trading post built in 1721 to establish relationships between the English and the Seneca Nation of Indians. Over time, the cabin deteriorated, so a replica now stands in Ellison Park just outside Brighton. The patch also features the year the town was formed.
