Integrating Communications, Assessment, And Tactics

The Brighton Police Department has long recognized the value of the Integrating Communication, Assessment & Tactics (ICAT) approach, a cutting-edge, research-driven method for training officers in de-escalation techniques. This innovative system equips first responders with a comprehensive toolkit to effectively manage critical incidents, ensuring a safe and successful outcome. Recently, the department invested in further enhancing its ICAT capabilities by sending two additional instructors to receive advanced training. The knowledge and expertise they acquired will be instrumental in refining the training programs offered to all officers, ultimately leading to improved service delivery to the community at large.

The Brighton Police Department is proudly listed among the agencies using the ICAT approach on the Police Executive Research Forum website. Click here to see other agencies that use this training model.
