On April 19, 2026, at around 3:00 AM, Brighton Police Department officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at 2500 East Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered that a 2011 Hyundai had crashed into five parked vehicles in the rear parking lot before being abandoned, with the driver fleeing on foot.
The Brighton Police Drone Unit deployed a drone to search for the suspect, successfully locating an individual matching the driver's description walking eastbound on Rt. 490E. Marked units were dispatched to the area, and the suspect attempted to flee westbound, prompting a brief foot chase. Officers from the Brighton Police Department apprehended the suspect and returned him to the scene, where he was positively identified as the driver involved in the collision.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Al-Dre Geathers of Brighton, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .18% or higher, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, and various Vehicle and Traffic Law-related offenses. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office assisted the Brighton Police Department during this incident.
