The Summit Police Department is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd's Powering Safe Communities Grant Program. This grant has enabled the department to purchase a state-of-the-art trailer that can be deployed near schools to alert motorists of their speed.
This versatile trailer serves multiple purposes, not only providing real-time speed alerts but also functioning as a message board to inform motorists and pedestrians of relevant information. Additionally, it is equipped with analytics capabilities, allowing the police department to collect valuable data for conducting traffic studies and identifying areas for improvement.
The Summit Police Department is committed to exploring funding opportunities that can provide resources to the department that would not have been available otherwise. This grant is a testament to the department's dedication to enhancing public safety and improving the quality of life for our community.
We are grateful for the support of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd's Powering Safe Communities Grant Program and look forward to continuing to work together to make our community a safer place.
