The Summit Police Department has announced the recent graduation of Interim Chief Mel Ortiz from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University.

Interim Chief Oritz has successfully completed the 22 week Staff and Command program on December 18, 2022. This program, which was implemented by the Center for Public Safety in 1983, has graduated more than 30,000 students both nationally and internationally.

Chief Ortiz was a student in SPSC Class No. 527, which accommodated a total of 22 students.
